Below you will read some of the initiatives
along with a brief summery of each program or service.
My goal is to improve our community through community
participation and support, I believe in order for community
programs to be successful they must start in the community.
These initiatives are non-taxpayer funded and rely on
community support and fundraising.
Southside Progress
Fund
The
Southside Progress Fund is a non-profit, non-taxpayer funded
program. The program is managed by 11 board members and
a host of volunteers. The 13th District Progress Funds
main purpose is to promote community service and bonding by
sponsoring community events and programs that help to improve
our community.
District
Newsletter
Starting in
June of 2007 District residents will
start receiving a Quarterly District Newsletter. The
newsletter will cover matters in the community, city hall.
Quarterly
Business Breakfast
Business is a vital part of our community
and in an effort to ensure I stay in touch with the business
community in the 13th District I will hold a quarterly breakfast
with local business owners and managers. Who knows
better on the issues effecting local business than those that
own or manage them. Visit the
13th District Business
Center to learn more.
Neighbor of The Month Program
The 13th District is filled with so many
wonderful people and when I ran for this office I had the
honor and opportunity to meet many of them. One of the
thoughts that kept coming back to me during my campaign and
then after I was elected was how wonderful it would be if the
rest of the community had the opportunity to meet some of
these people. That's when I decided to launch the
Neighbor of The Month Program. This program features
a District resident each month that has been recommended to to
me or that I have chosen.
Annual District Picnic
The ideal opportunity to encompass
everything we are trying to do with these initiatives is to
hold an Annual Picnic just as a family may hold a family
reunion each year to further the family bond. The 13th
District will hold it's first Annual Picnic on August 26th of
2006 and
visitors will enjoy good food, music, games and community
interaction. The money raised from the picnic will help
support the 13th District Progress fund and it's programs.
