Alderman Misner's Statement on the Big Box Ordinance.
Dear Concerned Citizen,
On Monday May
7, the City Council will be voting on the long awaited “Big
Box” ordinance. If this vital ordinance should fail to pass,
it could mean that drastic changes are in store for Kenosha.
The development of a “Big Box” store on the Southside would
potentially result in an additional 4,000 vehicles per day.
This increased traffic would use our neighborhood streets
creating not just major safety and pollution concerns but the
additional traffic would cause additional stress to our public
infrastructure. As a taxpayer, you would pay the cost of
street repairs for this increased commercial traffic.
Currently we
are faced with a split council on this matter and a community
presence may be the only thing that helps tip the balance. If
you share my interests in protecting our neighborhoods and
preserving our property values, I need you to attend Monday’s
meeting at City Hall. The address is 625 52nd St.
Kenosha, the meeting starts at 7pm. I hope to see you at the
meeting. Also, please consider speaking when the public
hearing portion is called when we get to this item on the
agenda.
